At UMCL, we encourage everyone to live in service to others as Jesus has taught us so that we may experience the grace and fullness of his love. UMCL provides a variety of outreach programs from those that provide for our local communities with warm food, safe shelter, and housing opportunities to global outreach programs that support mission work around the world. Our outreach ministries are available to the UMCL membership and the community as a whole. United Methodist Women

The entire program and organization of United Methodist Women focuses on mission. Initiatives include spiritual growth, leadership for women and girls, educational experiences, organizing for growth and flexibility, and working for justice through service and advocacy. UMW at UMCL holds many events throughout the year focusing on families and fellowship. All fundraising proceeds go to local, national and global missions to support and empower women, children and youth.

United Methodist Men

The mission of the UMM at UMCL is to help men grow in Christ, so others may know Christ. Focused on spiritual growth, the UMM group provides education and fellowship opportunities and encourages all men to be in service to the church and the community. The UMM group sponsors the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Adventure Crew and conducts many fundraising and mission projects throughout the year.

PADS of Lake County

From October thru April each year, UMCL serves as a host site for PADS Lake County, providing food and emergency shelter for dozens of men, women, and children. Each Saturday night, volunteers prepare meals and provide a safe, warm place to sleep for those in need. There are many ways to contribute to this important ministry from monetary donations, to food preparation, providing companionship, and washing linens.

Safe Families

Safe Families for Children is a movement fueled by compassion to keep children safe and families intact. Through Host Families, Family Friends, and Family Coaches, we temporarily host children and provide a network of support to families in crisis while they get back on their feet. We open our hearts, open our arms, and open our homes. UMCL is proud to be a part of this important ministry.

Breakfast Club

There are few things more important to the effective start of a child’s school day than nourishment. Children who eat some form of breakfast are more alert and ready to learn. The Breakfast Club is a homegrown outreach program of UMCL which provides a light breakfast to >100 underserved children at two Lake County schools. This ministry is blessed by volunteers, financial contributions and prayers from UMCL.

Christmas Partners

The UMCL Christmas Partner program is a long standing tradition to help those in need during the holidays. Gifts of toys, clothing, towels, toiletries, gift cards, and food items are generously given by the congregation to those in need at Humboldt Park, Emmanuel and San Pablo United Methodist Churches, The Harbor, Eddie Washington Center, and the Haven Women’s Shelter.
